3 Vision Clarity Steps From A Peruvian Billboard

Imagine a day when your drinking water comes from the air.

You read that right. Not everyone gets their water from the ground.

A technology company in Peru recently wanted to innovate. They needed to create a new billboard but also saw an opportunity to help people.

In their region, people struggle due to limited rain. They try to find water but find it difficult on a daily basis.

They created a billboard that generates drinking water from the atmospheric moisture. Why does this matter for your organization?

Read the three vision clarity steps they took to reenvision how we think about billboards:

1- Imagine new uses.
Our inability to see beyond what we know often traps us from thinking outside the box. This company invented new uses for a billboard.

Most billboards market a product or a thought. This billboard does that plus it also collects water from the atmosphere. Their vision looked beyond beyond the past and the present.

2- Seek ways to help others.
Many of us operate in a system that focuses on ourselves. We limit our thinking to our context and our needs. Expand your thinking to include the needs and struggles of others.

When you consider others you often find new needs, uses, and challenges that you could meet through innovative thinking. In this case the technology company considered how they could not only construct an effective billboard, but also help those around them.

3- Share your vision with others.
An unshared vision is usually an ineffective one. Share vision with others and listen to their feedback. Consider what you may not have thought of before.

Clarify. Clarify. Clarify.

Leaders should not only share their vision, but their vision should BE shared. When leaders communicate vision they take the first step. When others share their vision we see evidence of the vision’s penetration to and throughout the organization.
