3 Truths About Worry That Christians Forget

Stop worrying.

It isn’t going to help you. I mean it. It won’t.

Wait. I wrote that to myself. Not you. Well, actually it applies to you too.

Why do we worry? I think we worry because we struggle to authentically trust God.

I know I do. I doubt that God is in control. I question His ability.

A good friend recently sent a very transparent email requesting prayer. I fired off a quick reply to encourage him.

My response to him included 3 truths about worry you likely need to remember today. We all know them. But we struggle to convert belief into action.

3 Truths About Worry

3 Truths About Worry That Christians Forget

1) God has more than prepared you for these situations.

Whatever situation you face today, God prepared you for it. You know that cognitively but if you are like me, you have a hard time believing it. God prepared you for what you face.

You trust yourself or someone else when you don’t trust Him. You can trust Him. You can trust how He designed you for the life circumstances you will have today and every day.

2) He’s already gone before you to prepare them.

When you face a challenging meeting at work, a complicated ministry context, or a difficult decision, remember God has gone before you.

God works as much in the hearts of others as He does in your heart. He designed those you must meet with. Trust that His knowledge, designs, and active involvement are exactly what you need.

3) He will be with you each step of the way.

When God sends you out, he doesn’t slingshot you and say “Have a nice day.” He sends you yet also goes with you. Do you believe that?

God walks with us during any trial that we face? He’s right there when a family member dies. He’s with the surgeon when he operates on you or a relative. God even provides His presence when the outcomes don’t go our way.

Trust Him.

You’ll probably continue to worry. You may experience stress regularly.

Trust Him.

Remember these truths though.

  • God prepared you.
  • God has gone before you.
  • God will be with you.
